Frequently Asked
Questions

Here are some common questions I get from new patients. Hopefully, you can get some quick answers to your questions here, but if not feel free to reach out via my Contact page directly. I look forward to working with you!

  • So how do I get started?
When I receive an initial email or call, my goal is to respond within 48 hours during business hours when I am taking new clients. I can gather enough information to see if I am the right clinician to help you. We will schedule a session where we can continue to get to know each other and set goals for what you would like to achieve in therapy.I believe therapy works best when it is consistent until goals are achieved. Most of my clients choose to see me weekly or biweekly until goals are met. At this point, most clients choose to use my services for check-ins or maintenance.
  • What should I do if you are not taking new clients?
I often refer clients to psychologytoday.com. This website allows potential clients to search for therapists in their area. It can filter potential therapists by their specialization and accepted insurances.
  • What are your prices for your sessions?
Individual sessions for 53 minutes are $150 Family sessions for 53 minutes are $150 At this time, I do not perform couples therapy.
  • Would you consider a lower fee?
I do see a specific number of clients/spots on a sliding scale and a few clients pro-bono, however there is an income verification process that I will conduct with the client. As client's graduate services, spots will free-up and will allow for new clients to take advantage of these services. Those that qualify for the sliding scale must apply for the lower cost scale. Contact me for more detail.
  • What do I do if I’m having a mental health emergency?
Most emails, texts or calls are answered promptly within the practice. If you are having an immediate emergency, call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room. You can also call 1(800) 715-4225, Georgia’s Crisis and Access Line.
  • Do you bill insurance?
We do bill insurance. If we do not take your insurance, please call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your out of network benefits for outpatient mental health. If you have this benefit we can assist with providing a monthly superbill to your insurance carrier for your reimbursement.
  • Can we do sessions over video chat?
Yes! I am available for FaceTime/ Google duo as long as you are in Georgia. The law permits that therapists only do phone/video counseling in the state that they are licensed.. Some clients opt to have all of their sessions over video chat. This is only appropriate with clients that are not currently dealing with high risk mental health concerns. We can discuss if this is a good fit for you.
  • What are your privacy practices?
You may review our privacy policy by clicking 'privacy policy' at the bottom of our website.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
There are times when you may need to miss an appointment due to other commitments or emergencies. So as not to prevent someone else from booking, please allow 24 hours in advance for rescheduling or canceling. If you miss your appointment or cancel less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time, you will be charged a $50 fee. If you rearrange this appointment within two weeks, you will be charged a reduced fee of $25 for the appointment. I dislike charging fees, but I dislike other clients being unable to book an appointment they could have otherwise. Please be mindful of your fellow man.
  • How do I know when therapy is over?
Clients have the right to end treatment at any time. There are many different endings to a course of therapy. At times symptoms improve and goals are met leaving the client only in need of periodic, 'check-in sessions'. I like to make theraputic relationship communication clear and I will attempt to reach out to you via your preferred method of contact. If I do not hear back from you in 48 hours, I respect your rights and boundaries to no further contact. At this point you will be discharged from Robin’s Nest services. If you have a need to seek counseling in the future please contact Robin’s Nest Counseling to determine if the practice is open to new clients.
